Designed to activate spoken English in social situations, this course is intended for groups of 6 to 12 people seeking to gain confidence and fluency in English - whilst having a really interesting study holiday.

Chartwell doodle

The course lasts one week and is held in and around the town of Folkestone on the southern coast of England. A typical course would consist of:

Each course is planned separately. A typical programme might include:

Sunday: Arrive Gatwick * visit Winston Churchill's house at Chartwell- with wonderful gardens and views.

Folkestone doodle

Monday: An introduction to the school and the local region and its history (perhaps the richest in all England for connections with famous people and events). A walk along the beautiful Leas- a spacious grassy area overlooking the sea.

Canterbury doodle

Tuesday: We go through the countryside to Goodnestone (where Jane Austen danced when she visited relatives). It has a magical walled garden. Then to Canterbury for a tour of the most important Cathedral in England- and some time in the old city.

Wednesday: We'll take some time to learn more about the places we've seen and also to explore Folkestone- the harbour and the East Cliff.

Rye doodle

Thursday: A big day out going across Romney Marsh (below sea level and full of sheep and old churches) to Sissinghurst (the pride of National Trust gardens ) or to Rye (like stepping back into Shakespeare's time).

Friday: A breezy walk on the White Cliffs of Dover with views of the Castle (and of France). Then on to Deal- good for fish and chips- and also where Nelson had a scandalous love affair with Lady Hamilton.

Saturday: Transfer to the airport *.

The exact programme is flexible to take advantage of local events (and the weather).

Evening programme The School arranges an activity most evenings (a film /games evening/ talk/ pub visit/excursion) and your group would be most welcome to join in.

Fee for the week is £310-400 which includes visits and entrances and evening social programme.
Airport transfers can be arranged
Accommodation is £133 per week in a nice single room with a host family in easy walking distance of the school and includes breakfast and evening meals.
